4. How do nutrients flow through an ecosystem? Give an example of a food chain, and food web.
Energy enters an ecosystem from outside it (the sun). Energy is then converted into chemical energy and is passed from organism to organism though the ecosystem. (Through food chains and food webs). Energy is then lost the the enviroment as it flows through the ecosystem.
Inorganice nutrient need not be supplied with from outside the ecosystem. They can be obtained from the abiotic enviroment and flow through the exosystem in a cycle. Therefore, is a "balanced" ecosystem, nutrients are continually recycled and are not lost.
Ans:
Living organisms in any ecosystem are made up of producers, consumers and decomposers. Energy and nutrients are transderred from producers to consumers to decomposers through feeding.
Food Chain:
Green Plant (Producer) -----> Aphid------->Spider------>Bird
